Tips to help you Buy safely on OfferMe
Uniting buyers and sellers knowledge together to protect our trading community
Get to know your seller
Before you buy anything through OfferMe, take steps to assure yourself that the seller you are dealing with is legitimate.
- Check the seller is verified. All OfferMe sellers have to go through a strict procedure when registering. For more information on seller verification, click here.
- Ask the seller a question before you purchase the product. If you have any questions or concerns it is a good idea to ask the seller. This can re-assure you and help you to decide if you want to purchase from them.
- Take extra caution when buying from overseas sellers. Be wary if they prompt you to pay using methods such as Western Union and wire transfer which are difficult to track.
Check Feedback rating
The easiest way to check a sellers reputation is by looking at their feedback rating.
- Check the percentage of positive feedback. Legitimate sellers will have mostly positive feedback ratings between 90% to 100%.
- Reasons for negative or neutral feedback: If a seller has any negative or neutral feedback, it's important to check why. They could have simply received negative feedback because an item was sent a day late.Or the seller may not be trustworthy.
- Number of feedback ratings received: The more feedback a seller has, the more experience they have. 2 or 3 feedback ratings are not always enough to judge a seller.A high number of feedbacks will make it easy for you to decide whether or not to purchase from the seller.
Analyse the Offer
Look at the offer and check for the following:
- The offer should have all relevant information about the product.
- The price offered by the seller should not be ridiculously low. Compare the price with RRP. On OfferMe sellers can only sell brand new items. Although we encourage sellers to offer you great prices, as the old saying goes, 'if something is too good to be true, it usually is.' Be suspicious of an offer that is very low.
- Know the product: You should be familiar with the item you want to purchase. Always double check the items features.
- If you have analysed the offer and decide not to go through with the purchase because you are suspicious of the seller, please let us know.
Safe Payment Methods
Use caution when choosing which payment method is best for you. Avoid using payment methods that are hard to trace. Most of all, use the payment method you feel most comfortable with.
Common payment methods include:
- PayPal: By paying through paypal, you do not have to give out personal bank details to the seller. Paymate:Paymate is an Australian company that allows online payments to be sent and accepted. Payments can be made by credit card or transferred from a bank account.
- Credit Card: This method of payment can be risky as you have to provide credit card details. However, most financial institutions provide protection for buyers though chargeback. Contact your credit card provider for more details.
